Individually Computer Generated Tooth Profiles

The former allows the tooth form to be controlled precisely, resulting in a unique tooth profile for any given ring size. Most manufacturers simply join adjacent teeth together as the tooth profile becomes further apart resulting in a flat surface alien to roller ball geometry, hence Middleburn chainrings ensure the best possible load surface is obtained. Pressed rings automatically have less load surface area available due to the method of their production. CNC machining results in true cut surfaces optimising the chain to ring contact area, resulting in improved power transfer and increased durability. Hand finishing further removes any rough surfaces left by the manufacturing process which would otherwise increase friction.

Hardcote Chainrings are layered with a technically advanced ceramic coating, the Hardcoat layer is 5x thicker than modern coloured anodising and its constant refinement over many years of top level use now ensures it is more resistant and effective than ever before.
The unique formula serves two crucial purposes, firstly with a friction coefficient 10x less than hard anodising it reduces chainsuck and improves shifting performance. Secondly Hardcote provides up to 4x wear resistance than conventional hard anodising, increasing the life of your drive-train.
Hardcoat rings are successfully used by Jaroslav Kulhavy, the 2003 Junior World and European MTB Champion.

Slickshift rings are optional on most middleburn chainrings. Using our precise system of ramps and pins to aid shifting performance. Evidence enough of the performance increase is shown with our 29T-44T Duo chainset, not only producing a dramatic weight saving but also providing a slick gearing range ideal for the UK terrain.

Our modular crank system allows the crank to detach from the spider. Since its introduction with the first RS cranks it has been adopted by a range of other crank manufacturers. Sweet TorqueTM our most recent incarnation of the modular system has been developed to maximise power transfer and eliminate creaking. Other benefits include the lightweight Duo and Uno chainsets and the ultra compact 16T Super pro trials guard which would not have been possible without this precision CNC machined interface.
